MEA calls for more power to the people
Master Electricians Australia congratulate Independent MP Allegra Spender for joining the growing number of politicians advocating for permanent power bill savings by investing in rooftop solar, home batteries and energy saving upgrades.
The Member for Wentworth is the second Independent MP in two weeks to propose interest free loans for homeowners wanting to install these environmentally friendly, cost saving measures.
Ms. Spender’s proposal includes zero interest for 10 years on loans up to $25, 000.
Property investors would be able to include their energy upgrade spendings as a tax deduction, which also means cheaper energy bills for tenants.
It follows the Western Australia State Government funding the nation’s first interest free loans for clean energy scheme, and Federal Independent Dr Helen Haines advocating for the Federal Government to follow suit.
“The cost-of-living is the number one issue facing Australians, and small business is no exception,” said MEA CEO Kate Raymond.
The MEA is encouraging both sides of federal government to pledge a similar scheme as part of their election promises.
