From 1 July 2025, the NSW Government is increasing doubling the financial incentive for households and businesses that connect their battery to a Virtual Power Plant (VPP).
The NSW VPP Scheme can be combined with the Australian Government’s Cheaper Home Batteries Program discount which is offering rebates on eligible batteries (starting 1 July 2025).
(Read MEA’s information on the Cheaper Home Batteries Program Discount here).
Who’s eligible?
To access the NSW VPP incentive, you’ll need:
- Solar panels
- An eligible battery (between 2 and 28 kWh in usable capacity)
- To sign up with a Virtual Power Plant provider (Note: some VPP providers may require you to change your electricity retailer.)
If you’ve already received the NSW Government’s VPP incentive between 1 November 2024 and 30 June 2025, you won’t be eligible to claim it again.
Important to Note: The current NSW Battery Discount for new battery installations will end on 30 June 2025 and cannot be combined with the new Federal discount.
