On 11 November 2024, the Electrical Safety Office launched its new electrical licensing system

This new system ensures you can now quickly and easily:

• Complete and submit a new application
• Check the status of a new application
• Be reminded of when your licence renewal is due
• Renew your electrical licence
• Manage your electrical licence
• Update your contact details
• Add/remove qualified persons from your electrical contractor licence.

For Existing Licence Holders

There are some very important steps you need to complete to access the system:

Step 1. Digital ID is required to access the system and its OK if you don’t want one, but you’ll have to make a phone call to manage your licence.

Step 2. If you are choosing to use a Digital ID, these are the important steps:

• • • Set up your Digital ID if you do not already have one.
    • Ensure your contact details including your email address on your licence record match your Digital ID email address.  You may need to call Electrical Licensing to update.
    • When you first log in to the Electrical Licensing System it is important that your first step is linking to your existing licence.  Please have your device handy with the myID app to link your Digital ID to your electrical licence, so they know it’s you – Ensure you don’t miss this step!
    • After linking your electrical licence you will have access to manage it.

Additional Information

If you want to use a different email address for communications from the Electrical Safety Office you can update your contact details after completing the important steps above – linking your Digital ID and Electrical Licence.

If you are due to renew your electrical licence, make sure you navigate to your licence by clicking the licence number and click the renew or reinstate button.  Don’t forget for workers you must have completed your skills maintenance which you can access all from in the system and have your CPR (and/or pole top/steel tower rescue) in date within the last 12 months.
